PostSubject: An author's works   Tue May 28, 2013 4:16 pm

Hey guys, I should have a talk about an author's works, but I have no idea what I should say in my talk.

"Hey people *cough* I want to tell you something about the works of this author.

So these are the works. 3 Books. The End. Thanks for listening."

Any suggestion? I am really pissed, I don't get far here...

Tell the reason based on making the books, where they got their inspiration from, etc etc. Always helps
Good luck mate

Or search a link between the books (if they're not a trilogy). It's like erwin said, the inspiration has to come from somewhere so there's possibly a link

as said before, look for a link between the books. Could be that the author has some kind of message he wants to share with his readers.

Talk about the writing style of the author. Does he go into much detail, how do his characters grow or evolve as the book progresses. Does he only go into detail when there is violence or sex in the book.

Do you connect with any of the persona in the book.

Why did you choose this author (if it is not assigned to you)

Tell what the author do beside the Writing and if he/she/it had a work Before he/she/it started Writing.

Usually their life has something to do with the book: try link happenings in the book into the authors life. In other words, find his source of inspiration, it should boost your performance. Best possible thing you can do is to find a person you can relate to in the book, just like jUZE said. That usually gives out the feeling you've actually thought of the book instead of barely reading it. Authors usually use the same themes.

If you haven't actually read the books, not to worry. Wikipedia will be your best friend. It takes an hour or so to learn what the book tells of. Trust me, most people don't know that even after reading the book.

Good luck Wink

Just remember, "an opinion can never be wrong."

So, as long as you justify your reason for thinking a particular thing.

You've done a good job as far as anyone should be concerned.

You could even justify rape, because it's your opinion.

*cough* principals office is calling.. Wink

Maybe don't do that at school, as most teachers won't get what you mean jocolor

For example a couple of years ago here in Finland at the matriculation examination, there was a topic like this: "Which is better; a typical book or an e–book? Compare."
If your opinion was that the e-book is better - too bad! You were wrong!

Also, you should be able to look at the books from different perspectives, not just one. (Your own, the authors life, history..)
