PostSubject: New headset   Tue Jan 21, 2014 11:48 am

Hai,

I'm looking for a new headset seeing one earpiece of mine is broken.
Prefered not above 70 euro Smile I'm probably travelling a lot with it so if it would be great if it didn't break fast. It has to have a mic (of course) & big enough ear cushions.
I'm using the Siberia V2 atm, which is awesome, but a bit expensive imo (I bought mine cheaper than I can find now, logic?). If there isn't another good option I'll probably buy a second one.
For the Dutch/Belgian people, if you know a decent one & can name a shop where they sell em, that'd be even easier Smile

So please let me know what you think

You should be able to find V2's @70e somewhere. It's one of the best choices anyways, so you should be better off sticking with Steelseries.

If the 7H's price hadn't inflated I'd be recommending that instead (it used to be 85e), but now @115e it's a bad pick.

I think you should stick with V2 too, the usb soundcard versions are more expensive but you should try to find regular version for around 70 euros Smile

Thanks for the response. I looked up some prices and I should be able to buy em at around 70 euro. Just wondered if maybe there are some other good headsets around Smile

I have the USB-soundcard edition and it's well worth the price. If you can find one, it's well worth the buck.

Is there a big difference between the usb and non-usb version?

I'd personally stick with Siberia v2.
There isn't that much of a difference between the usb version and the ''non''usb version, it's just that the usb version is actually a soundcard that you plug into your computer with a usb,And i personally use the 'non' usb version, and it works just fine, i can play cod4 with it easily and hear all of the footsteps. The mic's quality is pretty good too.

My recommendation is still Audio-technica ATH-AD700. They're open air headphones, so they don't have much of noise cancellation, but far better positional audio and clearer sound than any closed air headphones in the price range. They're really sturdy as well. The main problem might be that they do cost around 100 euros. They're also plain headphones, so no mic. You can get a decent mic (approx. the same quality as in most headsets) for around 10 euros, though.

Edit: Their ear cushions are wonderful, btw. And big enough to easily cover your ears.
Edit2: Superman's supposedly funny but totally irrelevant comment deleted.

Thanks for the comment xana but I'm really looking for a headset with mic. Otherwise I'd buy a sennheiser, best sound I ever heard and less expensive Smile

You should consider plantronics 780, check them out they meet all the requirements you mentioned and they're pretty cheap.

I use ear force px22 usb headset, imo it's pretty damn good, big earphones, good mic and... I just love it Smile it's only problem might be that it's price might be over 70€ (Not sure.)

The USB-edition costs 20e more. The headset itself is stays exactly the same. You can probably buy the dongle online seperately @10-15e.

I find the USB-dongle pretty useful for 2 reasons:
1) Sound quality is better than on Creative Supreme X-Fi soundcard on my motherboard
2) If you get up with your headset on, the dongle will detach from the USB-cable and the plugs will remain connected to it. I think that I would've probably broken my V2's without it already.

Logitech and Razer are bit out of the price range, and you shouldn't be buying them anyways.
There's no doubt about the fact that Sennheiser makes the best headphones, but they don't come cheap.

Only buy razer mice and keyboards.

Alright, pretty sure I'm going to buy another Siberia V2. If I understand correctly and I do buy a usb version, I can carry the usb part with me, having one headset at home and the other one at my place?

IMO Razer headsets are far too overpriced. Logitech headphones are decent, but Steelseries is above all of them. :3 (Although you can also spend 300€ and get some absolute beast headphones Smile )

Personally I have steel series siberia v2. First time using steel series. Def would buy them again & recommend them to anybody. Since I no life cod & wow sometimes. So on all these other headsets I have they leave a mark on my head. Like they push down my hairline. THe steel serires Siberia v2 dont leave that shit. Looks like ive never played PC in my life. <3 Extremely comfy & nice sound in game & if your listening to music. The only problem I had was it completely changed my cod4 sound. The other headset I had was a deeper sound to cod4. so I could tell exactly where they were in cod4. ( Thats why I can soundwhore across map. TRUST MEH GUIS NO WH HERE I SWARE { fingers crossed } ) The headset made my cod4 higher pitched. Like nothing sounded the same as my old ones. I almost wanted to switch back. But the comfort made me stick with these.  Very Happy

This is what the soundcard looks like. It plugs into your PC using a mini-USB->USB 2.0 cable. Instead of hooking the plugs straight with your PC, you will connect them to this dongle instead. You can leave the dongle hooked into your computer even if your headset isn't attached.

Highly recommend you get the USB-edition if you can find it at a reasonable price (I paid 70e for it, 80e is pushing it..)

It really also depends about the sound quality and wheter you are a gamer or not.most gaming headsets have better quality than just normal headphones
